Italian language group courses

Learn Italian in Italy at our Centre for Italian Studies: Italian full immersion programs & intensive Italian language programs, Italian language group courses, intensive Italian lessons.

Our Italian language courses have been developed from a communicative based approach and focus on the four language abilities (listening, speaking, reading, writing). Our main goal is communication, both oral and written.

SEMI INTENSIVE

Italian Course

2 lessons per day (2 lessons x 45 min. each = 1,5 hours)
global approach session OR analytical approach session

These Italian courses are designed for those who want to study 2 lessons per day, focusing on the language analysis activities or the communicative activities

INTENSIVE

Italian Course

4 lessons per day (4 lessons x 45 min. each = 3 hours)
global approach session AND analytical approach session

These Italian courses are designed for those who want a complete language experience, studying 4 lessons per day, focusing on the language analysis activities and the communicative activities

COMBO INTENSIVE

Italian Course

5 lessons per day (4 lessons in group x 45 min. each = 3 hours + 1 private lessons x 55 min. = 4 hours)
global approach session AND analytical approach session COMBINED with 1 hour individual lesson

These Italian courses are designed for those who, in addition to the Intensiv course, wish to have an extra private lesson (one-to-one) devoted to their individual language needs

SUPER INTENSIVE

Italian Course

6 lessons per day (6 lessons x 45 min. each = 4,5 hours)
global approach session AND analytical approach session

These Italian courses are designed for those who want to have a more intensive group course to strengthen their abilities in a shorter time

*This time-table may change according to the school’s organizational needs.
On rare occasions (e.g. high season) Group Classes may be scheduled in the afternoon (14:00 – 15:30 / 16:00 – 17:30).

The school is closed on Epiphany Day (January 6th), Easter Monday, Liberation Day (25/4) Labour Day (1/5), Day of the Republic (2/6), Assumption of Mary (15/8), All Saints’ Day (1/11), and Immaculate Conception (8/12).
For these holidays, we will refund our students, according to the kind of course that they are enrolled for, on the following basis:

SEMI-INTENSIVE Italian language courses = 50 €
INTENSIVE Italian language courses = 66 €
COMBO INTENSIVE Italian language courses = 101 €
SUPER INTENSIVE Italian language courses = 100 €

Our main teaching principles

a language is not the result of a series of grammar rules
a language is not math! “Rules” do not exist, just linguistic phenomenon and regularities
a language is much more than a series of grammar rules (sayings, idiomatic expressions, intonation, gestures, body language, voice register register, emotive state, context and circumstances)
we need to differentiate between the moment of learning (conscious phase) and the moment of acquisition (subconscious phase)
our approach is communicative
for us the use of authentic material is fundamental (“The true Italian used by Italians”)
an intensive full immersion course is a psychologically demanding experience in terms of anxiety and stress that can make a student experience a sort of “regression” to infancy
we use TPR (total physical response) activities to reduce anxiety and encourage a relaxed state of mind
we must consider that learning styles and the time required to learn vary from person to person (Theory of Multiple Intelligences of Gardner)
in class we stimulate different “intelligences” (different ways of learning).
learning a language is a linear process and not a scaled process

Course Structure

Communicative activities 09:30 – 11:00

(subconscious phase)

The aim of the listening, reading, speaking and writing activities in this part of the lesson is to practise and improve abilities in communicating and improving overall understanding of a text (written or spoken)

This part is dedicated to natural language learning

WORKING ON THE GENERAL

(holistic approach)

The aim of listening, reading, speaking and writing activities is to understand linguistic phenomenon and the structure of the language through observation and analysis.

Analysis is deductive, using imagination or reasoning
