Archaeology Courses
Archaeology: Methodologies and Discoveries in Eastern Sicily
Sicily is home to some of the most intact archeological sites in the world including five UNESCO World Heritage sites: Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, the Roman Villa in Piazza Armerina, the ancient Greek and Roman theaters in Syracuse and the necropolis of Pantalica, the Arab-Norman heritage in Palermo and Monreale and the baroque town of Noto.
This course explores the ancient civilizations of Sicily and the abundance of treasures each left behind. Students are introduced to terminology, methods, excavation techniques and the basic knowledge of site preparation and study.
Visits to archeological sites enhance study. No previous study is required.
